I also happened to get the book Charmed Knits for my birthday!

I was actually surprised at how much I like it! It has patterns that are especially good for most children, but a few that adults would like, too! But what I think the book is best for is Halloween costumes! You could be a wizard, witch, or even a Quidditch player! Why, actually there's a ton of costumes you could compile just using this book!
Here's some of the interesting patterns and what I think of them:
The Weasley Sweater --
This looks like a very comfy sweater and would be quite fun to have. It's a very basic sweater pattern and is good for a beginner. It has a large H on the front, which is not only good if you are a Harry Potter fan but also if your name begins with H! It looks very nice to have in the fall.
Errol--
Errol is a cute little owl! They show examples of him sewn to the cape, but there really is no need to do that -- he is knit completely separate! He would definitely make a splendid present for children!
Student Wizard Cap and Wizard Robe--
These two would definitely make a very nice Wizard costume for Halloween!
Invisibility Shawl--
This is a very nice, elegant shawl that I really quite like! It would be very nice to wear to winter parties.
Quidditch Sweater --
This sweater looks very nice and comfy! It is actually one of my favorite patterns in the book!
Quidditch Socks--
This is also one of my favorite patterns in the book! They look very comfy and like they would fit well. They are pretty simple looking, but that's how you would wnat socks, right?
There is a section about all the "House Knits" so that you can show your favorite colors from Hogwarts. All the patterns are sleek and simple and can be used quite often!
Dobby's Socks--
These are fun socks! Harry's Sock is a nice ribbed sockmade of Knit Picks Essential. Pink & Orange Striped Sock is a simple sock with thin stripes, and is very cute! Broomsticks Socks are very cute with lots of little broomsticks flying around it! Snitches Sock has the golden snitches from the game of Quidditch in Harry Potter also flying around it.
Hermione's Magic Knitting Bag--
This is a great bag that would also work well as a backpack! It's nice and large and is among my favorite patterns in this book!
Harry Christmas Ornaments--
Of course there are some nice ornaments for the tree in this book! The first one is Mini-Weasly Sweater Ornaments, which are mini sweaters. How cute! The other is a simple Golden Snitch Ball ornament.
Harry's Red Cable Sweater--
This is a very nice cabled sweater that looks very comfortable and I actually really like it!
Hermione's Cable and Bobble Hat and Hermione's Cable and Bobble Mittens--
These would go quite nicely with the above sweater!
And that concludes some of my favorite patterns in this book. I was actually quite surprised how much I like it, but I really love it! I hope you agree!

OOOhhh, I'm jealous. I love that book! I've been wanting to get one to make some stuff for the kids but they weren't as enthusiastic about it as I was so I didn't get it. They're not as big fans as I am of the HP books and movies. Incidently, I LOVE the red cable sweater.
The book is definitely better than you would think! Maybe you can persuade your kids into wanting it by telling them about some of the better patterns, or just get it to make gifts! And even if your kids think they don't want, once they see it they will!
